1.Low Running Costs
One of the main ones is that a wood fired hot tubs have very low running costs compared to electric hot tubs.
An electric hot tub of around 1,000 litres will heat up by approx. 3 degrees per hour. The temperature of the water before it is heated can vary a great deal (particularly in the UK!). This means that a typical electric hot tub will heat up in between 8-15 hours this means that even the most energy-efficient electric hot tubs on the market will cost between £2.24 and £4.20 per day at current energy tariffs of around 28p per kWh (updated April 2022).
However, not all hot tubs are built to the most efficient energy standards. If you chance your arm on a cheap grey import this daily cost could increase five or six fold, as they are simply not built to retain heat and maintain water temperature efficiently.

2.Hygiene
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I CHANGE THE WATER IN THE TUB?
In domestic situations it is recommended to empty the water every 2-3 uses. If it is used by multiple people then it is best to change it daily, with an electric tub this is virtually impossible due to the time frame of re-heating and cost of heating. If you want to leave the water in for longer then we recommend fitting a filtration system or using a sanitising treatment.
IS IT EASY TO DRAIN THE WATER OUT?
With a wood fired hot tub the answer is Yes, simply open the tap at the bottom of the tub and the water will flow quickly out. You can attach a hose to direct the water to use on your garden if you so wish. We are able to supply these hoses in 10m lengths.
when not in use simply drain the water out, clean the bathing area and clean the ash out. Then the next time you wish to use the tub simply refill and heat again.
