Fibreglass wood-fired hot tub heating up duration:
The short answer is approx. 2 – 3 hours to reach a desired temperature from 7.2° C to 38° C (45° F to 100.4° F).
The exact timing would depend on various factors like
- The size of the hot tub
- The size and KW power of the heater
- If the hot tub is insulated
- The outside temperature and whether
- Water capacity of the wood- fired hot tub
Smaller 4 – 5 seater hot tubs such as the Tarkine, with its internal 30kw wood fired heater, would heat up to the perfect temperature within an average of 2 hours.
There are factors that you can control to maintain a stable heating output, for example:
Choice of wood planned on for burning, we recommend Birch, we do not advice to use spruce. Although both wood types will burn, spruce may produce weird “popping sounds”
Ensure you have insulated cover, it is designed to keep the temperature in, a lot better then fibreglass or wooden cover.
Stir the water in the wood-fired hot tub occasionally, simply turn on the hydro jets or air pump to stir the water. By doing so you will mix the hot water with cold, It will help to determine an actual temperature faster.
To monitor hot tubs water temperature we recommend using Inkbird or similar. This device will allow you to see the water temperature from the inside of your home as well as whilst in the hot tub, a radio style thermometer will allow you to see the temperature further away from the hot tub rather then Bluetooth version.
