Summary
A crucial component of the functioning of hot tubs is their ovens or heaters, which ensure the water is heated, providing a healthy and enjoyable experience for users. The hot tub oven is responsible for heating the water and maintaining the optimal temperature. Our stoves are designed to maintain their shape over time, ensuring consistent performance and a longer life use.
The heaters of the hot tub are made of stainless steel, which makes this heater particularly durable and with a long service life. You could chose AISI 316 or AISI 304 grade of stainless steel (See Stainless Steel Quality). this heater is always 2mm thickness.
TenSpa designed a good looking efficient and durable hexagon heater. You should choose this 37 kw stove when:
- have larger hot tub (Hot tubs water capacity with or over 2000l)
- like to use the hot tub in winter and the air temperature can even be minus degrees
- have no patience and wants the hot tub water to be warm as soon as possible
You can choose the heater according to the usage habits of your hot tub:
- If you use chlorine or salt in the hot tub your stove should be from stainless steel AISI 316 Marine Grade
- if you often use the hot tub and want long-lasting stoves, we recommend one made of 2mm stainless steel thickness
- for commercial use we recommend only 2 mm thickness heater
Stainless Steel Quality
Stainless steel is a steel containing at chromium, nickel, chromium, the rest is iron, which gives it exceptional properties:
- Corrosion resistance: Chromium forms a protective oxidation film that protects steel from corrosion;
- High temperature and environmental factors;
- Mechanical strength: despite its light weight, stainless steel is durable, very strong and resistant to mechanical impact;
- Hygienic: Stainless steel is resistant to bacterial growth, making it hygienic and easy to disinfect and clean, making it ideal for ice baths or hot tubs.
There are multiple grades and classes of stainless steel, each with a slightly different composition of alloys. These chemical differences create slightly different physical characteristics.
AISI 316 (V4A / EN 1.4401) or AISI 304 (V2A / EN 1.4301 )
AISI 316 (V4A / EN 1.4401) contains 2-3% molybdenum. Molybdenum makes the material more resistant to corrosion, especially in salt water, acidic, chlorides environments. Stainless steel AISI 316 is higher resistance to high temperatures. If you plan to use salt, chlorides, acidic or you’re planning to place TenSpa products near the sea you should choose AISI316.
AISI 304 (V2A / EN 1.4301 ) is a heat and corrosion resistant steel. Solutions with as little as 25 ppm of sodium chloride can begin to have a corrosive effect. The big advantage of AISI 304 is the lower price. You can choose it if you do not use any seawater, chlorides or acidic environments.
Stainless steel has the innate ability to form a passive layer that prevents corrosion. The secret?
Chromium.
The chromium found in all stainless steels reacts quickly with oxygen environments, much the same as iron. The difference is that only a very fine layer of chromium will oxidize (often only a few molecules in thickness). Unlike flaky and unstable iron oxide, chromium oxide is highly durable and non-reactive. It adheres to stainless steel surfaces and won’t transfer or react further with other materials. It is also self-renewing—if it’s removed or damaged, more chromium will react with oxygen to replenish the barrier. The higher the chromium content, the faster the barrier repairs itself.
Once oxidized, or passivized, stainless steel typically rusts at a very low rate of less than 0.002 inches per year.
However, please be aware that stainless steel may be susceptible to rust. But please note these rusts you could clean very easy
How the wood burning stove works?
Tenspa all stoves are a high quality water heaters designed specifically for hot tubs. It circulates water using the principle “thermosiphon”. Hot water rises and creates low pressure, which sucks water from below. Hot tub stoves, made from high-quality stainless steel, stand out for their exceptional thermal efficiency and long-lasting durability.
It eliminates the need for a circulating pump and electricity, making it possible to heat the water in a hot tub with the heater placed externally. A big advantage is that there will be more space in the tub, which in turn means a smaller model can be selected. The stainless steel body surrounding the firebox is actually a double-wall water-jacket, making the entire firebox a heat-transferring surface.
The wood burning heater utilizes a sophisticated heat exchange design for efficient water heating. The stainless steel stove body surrounding the firebox is a double-walled water-jacket with a 1.5-inch space between, making the entire firebox (except the front) a heat-transferring surface. Additional heat transfer takes place in a water-filled baffle tube that runs horizontally through the firebox. The baffle deflects the path of the fire, so it gives up more heat into the water jacket before going up the chimney.
Heat is easily controlled by adjusting the air draft control for heating the water and maintaining the water temperature.
Long life of stove by following water quality limit values below
- Chlorine content: max 3.5 mg/l (ppm)*
- pH value: 7.2–7.6
- Alkalinity: 60–120 mg/l (ppm)
- Calcium hardness: 100–300 mg/l (ppm)
- Iron: max 0,1 mg/l (ppm)*
- Copper: max 0,2 mg/l (ppm)*
- Manganese: max 0,05 mg/l (ppm)*
- Phosphorus: max 0,01 mg/l (ppm)*
- Nitrate: max 50 mg/l (ppm)*
- Chloride (salt) content: max 250 mg/l (ppm)
- Chloride (salt) content: max 35 000 mg/l (ppm) – titanium for salt water
Stoves basic conditions for use
- The stoves are specially designed for the hot tubs or small pools
- Maximum acceptable water temperature in the hot tub is 45 degrees
- It is not allowed to close the input and output pipes of the stove during the burning and until the stove is cooled down
- It is not allowed to create extra pressure in the stove
- It is not allowed to let the water freeze in the stove
- It is not allowed to let the water freeze in the hot tub
- It is not allowed to use the stove without water inside the hot tub
Correct and incorrect connection of the external stove
- The external heater and outdoor hot tub must be placed on a flat, solid surface.
- It is important that the connection hose at the top connects slightly (with a little angle).
- The lower stove connection hose can be connected evenly.
CAUTION! Never burn the stove without the required amount of water in the hot tub. Otherwise, you may burn the stove and hot tub.
Stainless steel stove vs. aluminum stove
To ensure the best quality and durability, we produce and use stainless steel stoves for our Tenspa hot tubs. For the heaters we use only AISI 316 or AISI 304 grade stainless steel. Stainless steel is extremely durable and withstands various agents and chemical substances used to clean the water of the hot tub. A stainless steel stove is also more user-friendly. Should it happen that you forget some burning coals in the stove after using the hot tub but have already emptied the tub of water, the stove will not be damaged so easily. For a stove made of aluminium, the damage that occurs to the heater with such a human error is irreparable. In addition, the service life of an aluminum stove is shorter and it takes less time for them to lose their beautiful appearance and durability.
There was a period when aluminum heaters became very popular because it was said that they conducted the heat better and got the job done quicker. By now, it has been proven untrue. Tenspa stainless steel stoves have been designed by the engineers to direct 100% of the energy produced by heating to get the water hot.
